Mens Beanie Crochet Pattern
This Mens Beanie Free crochet pattern is the best mens crochet pattern you will find today! Simple, yet manly! It works up really fast and it’s super easy to make!
My husband picked out the colors and I must say, I love them too! He will have enough to keep him warm the whole winter! I always wanted to create a free crochet pattern that is worked flat and then crocheted together, and this one turned out perfectly. We designed it together and he decided that he didn’t like brims of crochet hats that fold over. So I then added the single crochet brim, which I think fits very well!
Without a doubt, this pattern is dedicated to my amazing and loving husband who is working away from home right now. I love you to the moon and back!
Let’s dive into the deeds:
Before you start with this crochet mens hat, here are some important things to know and some background around this pattern.
The Style of the Mens Beanie Crochet Pattern
I’ve always struggled to find a FREE easy crochet pattern for men. This crochet mens hat has a simple yet easy design which consists of half double crochets worked in the 3rd loop and back loop only of the stitch. How easy is that?! If you are new to the 3rd loop of the half double crochet, check out the explanation in the notes of the crochet pattern below!
Furthermore, you can even add a pom pom to the beanie to make it look funky! This was the first test I made, and my Husband actually loved this one more!! This one also has a different brim. You can add a ribbed brim instead of the single crochet brim. But I just need to take a moment to appreciate the view we had the day of our shoot!

Some FAQ and answers:
Can I adjust the size of the Crochet Mens Beanie?
This Crochet Beanie is made to fit the average head size of an adult male. If you would like to make it more slouchy, you can by increasing your foundation chain by 5 stitches. If you want to increase the size, you will need to crochet more rows so the work measures the same as your measurements.
What Yarn and Hook Should I use?
I used #4 Worsted weight yarn for this mens hat. I used Elle Classic wool yarns. This is a blend of wool and Acrylic yarn, but you can use any type worsted weight yarn, just be sure to make a gauge swatch to see if you need a bigger or smaller hook.
I also used a Size 5mm Hook (US H/8) and 6mm (J/10) Boye Crochet Hooks!
If you reside in the US or abroad of South Africa, you can use something like Caron Simply Soft or Red Heart Super Saver, if you use yarn from full 100g balls, you will have enough left over to make another beanie in the same or contrasting colors!
When you use something else, then please leave me a comment down below! I would love to know what brands you use.
